Ethical online behaviour – Digital Compass

Key Points:

  • This term Year 9 are participating in a new program called Digital Compass
  • The Program objective is to support the ethical development and behaviour of young people and positive peer relationships particularly in the online environment
  • Students are participating in surveys and workshops weekly during their PDHPE lessons

Digital Compass has been developed by the Behavioural Insights Team in partnership with the Vincent Fairfax Family Foundation and The Alannah and Madeline Foundation. It is an in-school program that is being delivered over one period per week, for 8 consecutive weeks by experienced facilitators from The Alannah and Madeline Foundation.

The program is targeted for Year 9 students as this is the ideal developmental stage to encourage healthy lasting changes to online behaviour. It involves a combination of online and offline exercises and is aligned to the NSW PDHPE curriculum. Workshops commenced on Friday 7 August and will continue for the rest of the term.

Congratulations to our students who were highly engaged in the activities, with the facilitators complimenting our students on their excellent behaviour and participation.
