Cross-Country

Key Points:

  • Our upcoming cross-country event is part of our sports program that will take place during sport on Wednesday 31 March.

  • Our cross-country will involve all students in years 7-10 during their designated sports lessons. For the rest of the day, students will be in normal timetabled lessons.

  • This is a normal school day with all students required to attend. Normal sports uniform is to be worn.

Cross-country is a distance running event. Each year our PDHPE faculty organise the cross-country event to select runners across all age groups who will represent our school at Zone, Regional and State Carnivals throughout term 2.

The emphasis of our 2021 cross-country is participation and fun. Our cross-country event  is a safe, fun and inclusive activity that will take place at school during sport on Wednesday 31 March. It will involve a 2km course that all students can participate in to their capabilities. For those students who cannot run, we strongly encourage and expect them to be involved by walking instead of running.  The importance of student participation in physical activity cannot be understated, as this has many important health and social benefits.

Year 7 and 8 students will participate in the cross- country during periods 3 and 4, and Year 9 and 10 students will be participate during periods 5 and 6. For Year 11 and 12 students, the cross- country is for competitors only.  Any year 11 and 12 students interested are required to register with  Mr Breen and arrangements for them will be confirmed. For our serious runners, please remember that the zone cross country will take place in May.
