- A successful start to the 2021 Higher School Certificate Examinations after a challenging semester for our Year 12 students.
- A mix of emotions among our Year 12 students as they move through their HSC examinations with a sense of relief and anxiousness eagerly wanting their last examination to be over.
- Careful organisation and arrangements have been put in place to safeguard the HSC examinations in the event of a COVID school closure.
It has been fantastic seeing all of our Year 12 students back at school, smiling and ready to finish this last stage of their high school career. Although it has been a challenging year, this is also an exciting time for Year 12 to demonstrate all of their hard work as they finish 13 years of schooling and prepare for the next stage of their lives. They started their examinations with the first English paper on Tuesday 9 November, and the last examination scheduled for Friday 3 December.
After two extraordinary years of lockdown and taking on the challenge of the HSC during a pandemic, our Year 12 students have shown incredible resilience and agility and all were very relieved to get their HSC underway. They are enjoying the calm and supportive atmosphere in our outdoor learning area with their peers and teachers before starting their exams, and have walked out of exams so far with smiles on their faces.
We have established a separate environment for our Year 12 as a way to mitigate risk of illness and COVID infection and have set up contingencies in seeking alternative examination venues in the event of a school COVID Closure. As part of that, the school has gained the support of local community facilities to provide alternative venues that so far, we have not needed to call upon. Sincere thanks to the generosity of the Gymea Baptist Church, Gymea Anglican Church and the Gymea Community Centre who have each offered their halls and facilities to cater for examinations in the event we need an alternate venue.
Many students have received early offers from universities, while others have received offers of employment. Students will receive their final HSC results, including their ATARs in January. Our staff, families and friends are supporting our HSC students and wishing them all the best. We have an outstanding group of HSC students; we are so proud of each and every one of them and look forward to celebrating with them at their formal on Monday 6 December.
Congratulations and continued good luck Year 12.
