What is Connect2learn?
The Connect2learn project engages our current generation of students with their learning by bringing their own personal contemporary mobile devices to school to use with class activities, tasks and homework. We live in a world with anywhere, anytime access to all sorts of information. Devices in learning give students instant access to information that can be blended in day to day learning in and outside the classroom.
Research tells us that digital devices need to be accessible and individualised to be effective tools for learning. By allowing students to use their choice of device in classes and at home, we enable learner centred environments which allow students to interact and engage deeper with the curriculum.
At Gymea, we believe that these devices enable students to be self-directed with their learning and organisation as well as develop collaborative skills that reinforce both information and basic learning skills.
Students use their devices to access information, access online learning management tools and share their learning. Digital devices do not replace pen and paper but are exciting and engaging learning tools that facilitate self organisation, deeper understanding, collaboration and creativity in what students explore and produce. Use of devices enhances teaching and learning and facilitates the development 21st century learning skills that better engage students in lifelong learning.
